we visited the Fairmont Marrakech for a family holiday (2 adults, 2 children aged 1 and 3 years) in April 2024.
Room was large and clean. However far from reception and buggies were many times slow and late in coming and 0 was busy / unanswered. Food in Moroccan restaurant was not good - everything was sweet with lot of sugar. Service staff for buggies were very nice but breakfast restaurant were too busy and unfriendly.
we had a wonderful 24 hours at Fairmont. We can see why it is so popular. Felt not enough sunbeds by the pool for the whole hotel to use. Round the pool service for water/ towels/ getting attention was slow. We asked specifically for a local taxi to take us to Oberoi as we didnt need a chauffeur by the car and lots of yes yes yes and then we had to pay a premium for the hotel car because of the error from concierge which annoyed us slightly. I was relaxing in my room on arrival, sleeping and the telephone went 5 times to tell me my husband had not signed his name on the lunch receipt. I thought it was quite unnecessary to try that amount of times when clearly I was not there/ not able to speak but I had gone to our room to have quiet time and then got woken up 5 times. I answered and the lady was quite stroppy with me, I said we would come and do it but I am sleeping and the calls kept coming. The hotel, the grounds, the rooms, everything was beautiful though. Just felt sometimes the communication from staff was not amazing.

Overall good. Restaurants a bit limited. No new coffee cups in the room for 3 days/ coffee capsules were replaced but no cups? How to drink your coffee? Twice we used wine glasses and then they disappeared as well an d were not replaced. We had to call several times for items in the room. Sports were good. Hold a bit expensive considering we stayed in hotel.

Everything was nice apart from the service in the restaurants. It did not feel like a 5 star resort. Constantly asking and waiting for menus, then waiting to have your order taken, then waiting for drinks. We’ve stayed at lots of different resorts and this is the first time we felt we booked the wrong place as the service was just so slow. Frequently we’d ask for something and it would not come or it would take so long to come. For example I ordered a cappuccino from one of the managers at breakfast and it never came. We were always asking for water and frequently it would take 20/25 minutes to arrive at the table. One meal might turn up for somebody and the second meal for somebody else could arrive 10 mins later. Unfortunately with the prices you are paying and the number of other options out there it would make us not recommend your hotel.

The hotel, the views, the food and the staff were all great. However, we faced several service issues that are not at the level of a 5-star hotel. 1. We booked a Villa Prince and got downgraded to the Presidential Suite. We were informed by phone with no reason and no other option than cancelling. The view was probably better and the price was lower, but this is not the room that we booked. 2. The room was supposed to be ready at 15:10 (this is what we were told on arrival), then 16:00 (the official time) but we got the room at around 16:45. 3. The first two morning, the waiting time for hot drinks at breakfast was around 20-30 minutes until we realized that we could get the drinks ourselves. Tip: one person is dedicated to water buckets and each bucket takes about 1 or 2 minutes to fill - changing that system could free up one person.

The staff were incredible. We have a daughter with an eating disorder. I emailed before and they promptly committed to helping us. Every meal was perfect, they communicated with each other brilliantly (not my usual experience) and at all times we felt welcome and cared for.
